| The event management rents a varying number of online workstations ranging from one to six stations. The attendees can access the Internet using these workstations with a DSL connection provided by the host facility. The online stations can be set to redirect to a pre-defined homepage which can be the sponsoring organizations website. |
| If the event management wants to track the usage of these workstations, reports can be generated by the proxy server. The proxy server links the workstations to the Internet and tracks their progress. During and after the close of the event, the event management can get all of the information needed concerning Internet usage. This includes which workstations had the most activity, where the attendees went on the Internet, and what percentage of time spent online was used to visit different sites. |
| The proxy server is the control for outgoing requests and hence acts as censor. The proxy server also processes Internet requests so only one DSL connection is required for a multi workstation Cyber Café. This is good for the event management since the DSL line is their responsibility. |
